Beginning Monday, September 19 through Friday, September 23 nighttime lane reductions will take place at Carmenita Road on the northbound and southbound I-5 between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. These lane reductions are needed as crews remove k-rail and work on the soundwalls along the freeway.
The northbound I-5 on-ramp at Carmenita Road will be closed nightly between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, September 19 through Friday, September 23. These closures are necessary as crews continue soundwall work and remove k-rail. Motorists will be directed to continue west on Carmenita Road, turn left onto Imperial Highway to access the northbound I-5 on-ramp. The closure area is shown below on the map in red; the detour route is highlighted in green.
Crews are continuing sandblasting work on the sound wall along Firestone Boulevard. This work will take place weekdays, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will be ongoing for approximately one to two months. While work is being done on the soundwall, there will be no through access to Firestone Boulevard between Shoemaker Avenue and Dinard Avenue. No through access signs will be placed in the vicinity to alert motorists of the closures. The closure areas are shown on the map below in red.
Finally, daytime work is ongoing behind k-rail in the center median to construct the new median barrier rail between Alondra Boulevard and Shoemaker Avenue on I-5.
