Beginning Monday, September 26 through Friday, September 30 Carmenita Road Bridge, as well as the northbound I-5 on- and off-ramps and southbound I-5 on- and off-ramps at Carmenita Road will be closed, nightly, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. These closures are necessary as crews stripe the final configuration of the newly constructed bridge.
Southbound I-5 Detour: Motorists will be directed to continue on Firestone Boulevard, turn left on Alondra Boulevard, then turn right on Valley View Avenue to access the southbound I-5 on-ramp.
Northbound I-5 Detour: Motorists will continue northbound on Carmenita Road and turn left on Imperial Highway to access the northbound I-5 on-ramp.
In addition to these closures, the following streets will be closed nightly, between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., Monday, September 26 through Friday, September 30.
- Firestone Boulevard, from Shoemaker Avenue to Alondra Boulevard
- Excelsior Drive, from Freeway Drive to Carmenita Road
- Carmenita Road Bridge, from Alondra Boulevard to Rosecrans Avenue
Crews are continuing sandblasting work on the sound wall along Firestone Boulevard.This work will take place weekdays, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will be ongoing for approximately one to two months. While work is being done on the soundwall, there will be no through access to Firestone Boulevard between Shoemaker Avenue and Dinard Avenue. No through access signs will be placed in the vicinity to alert motorists of the closures. The closure areas are shown on the map below in red.
Finally, daytime work is ongoing behind k-rail in the center median to construct the new median barrier rail between Alondra Boulevard and Shoemaker Avenue on I-5.
