Beginning Tuesday, September 6, crews will begin sandblasting work on the sound wall along Firestone Blvd. This work will take place weekdays (Monday through Friday), between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will be ongoing for approximately one to two months. While work is being done on the soundwall, there will be no through access to Firestone Boulevard between Shoemaker Avenue and Dinard Avenue. No through access signs will be placed in the vicinity to alert motorists of the closures. The closure areas are shown on the map below in red.

In July, crews completed a traffic shift along southbound I-5, between Rosecrans Avenue and Valley View Avenue, to realign traffic from the center lanes, to the newly completed outside lanes of the freeway. In addition to this traffic shift, the southbound I-5 Carmenita Road on- and off-ramps have been opened to traffic and South Firestone Boulevard has been realigned to its permanent configuration.

Finally, daytime work is ongoing behind k-rail in the center median to construct the new median barrier rail between Alondra Boulevard and Shoemaker Avenue on I-5.
