WHAT / WHERE: Starting on Monday, May 4 construction crews will begin mobilizing a pile driving rig to perform test pile driving activity in eight locations adjacent to Florence Avenue interchange along I-5 freeway. This work will take place along the old northbound I-5 Florence Avenue off-ramp, near the existing northbound I-5 Florence Avenue on-ramp and along the old southbound I-5 Florence Avenue on-ramp. Please be advised this work may be loud and disruptive due to equipment noise, construction lighting (when equipment is moved at nighttime), vibration and pounding related to pile driving activity.
WHEN: On Monday, May 4 crews will begin setting up their construction equipment in preparation for the pile driving activity. Crews will begin performing test pile driving activity on Tuesday, May 5. This work will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and will continue for approximately one to two weeks. While pile driving activity will only be performed during the day, night crews will move their equipment and set up the pile driving rig to the next work location.

WHY: This activity is part of the I-5 Florence Avenue Interchange Improvement Project. Pile driving is necessary to construct the foundation of new Florence Avenue bridge, retaining walls and freeway on and off-ramps.
