The K-rail has been removed from between the first and second half of the Florence Ave. Bridge as we move closer to opening lanes. The new concrete median and sidewalk are complete the final roadway surface concrete is poured. On the night of Thursday, September 10, southbound traffic lanes were shifted west on I-5 in preparation to construct a median barrier and to open a fourth lane from I-605 towards Imperial Highway. Construction of new median barrier on I-5 near Florence Avenue is underway. Video below from September 19:

The Florence Ave. on ramp to northbound I-5, and the Florence Ave. off ramp from northbound I-5 will all remain closed until the second half of the Florence Ave. Bridge is complete. This is per request by the cities of Downey and Santa Fe Springs, to minimize traffic congestion until the three additional bridge lanes are provided to handle the increase in vehicles. Construction of the second half of the bridge is underway.
