I-5 Construction Advisory – SR-134 to Buena Vista Street, Mar 2 -10, 2017

Crews are working to patch potholes caused by the inclement weather in the immediate vicinity of our current work.   These repairs will occur at night.

Please remember, illegal dumping is a crime. Violators will be prosecuted.

Construction Activities

Work will occur during daytime hours unless otherwise noted.

SR-134 to Magnolia Boulevard

Providencia Avenue Bridge: Crews are constructing the bridge deck.

Sonora, Western, Alameda Bridges: Crews are backfilling the median abutments for the Sonora, Western and Alameda Bridges.

Magnolia Boulevard to Buena Vista Street

Pump Building: Crews will begin crushing the demo pile near the pump building. Crews will also waterproof and backfill walls for the Pump Building.

Empire Avenue: Crews are forming, pouring, and stripping the walls west of Victory Place at Empire Avenue.

Hollywood Way to Burbank Boulevard (Railroad): Crews are working to complete the track switch from the shoofly (temporary) tracks back to the mainline track.

Northbound I-5 San Fernando Boulevard On-Ramp: Crews continue to backfill the walls between the San Fernando Boulevard on-ramp and the Buena Vista Street off-ramp.

Southbound I-5 at Buena Vista Street:  Crews are working on stripping the bridge’s wood forms and installing the deck.

Victory Place Undercrossing:  Crews are installing temporary structures (shoring), removing pavement, curbs, and k-rail to build the east side of the Victory Place Bridge.

Closures & Detours

SR-134 to Magnolia Boulevard

Northbound I-5 Nighttime Lane Closures.

The three right lanes (lanes 2, 3, and 4) on northbound I-5 will be closed Sunday, March 5 at 10 p.m. and reopen Monday, March 6 at 6 a.m.

Intermittent Daytime Closures on Flower Street.

Flower Street under the I-5 bridge will be closed intermittently during the day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lane closures for Sonora Avenue, Western Avenue and Alameda Avenue.

Intermittent daytime lane closures, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., under the I-5 bridge. Traffic will be maintained in both directions. Some sidewalk closures are expected as well. A pedestrian detour will be provided.
