I-5 Corridor Improvements – SR-134 to Buena Vista Street, Jan. 4-8, 2016

To help you get to your holiday destinations as quickly and easily as possible, there will be no scheduled construction closures on I-5 from Dec. 31 at 6 a.m. to Jan. 3 at midnight.

Construction activities and closures are subject to change. Work will occur during daytime hours unless otherwise noted.


CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES for January 4-8, 2016

SR 134 to Magnolia Boulevard

Alameda Avenue: Construction of concrete bridge barriers.

Alameda Avenue Northbound and Southbound I-5 Ramps:  Constructing drainage inlets.

Bridge Construction: Work on Sonora Avenue, Alameda Avenue and Western Avenue Bridges.

Magnolia Boulevard to Buena Vista Street

Buena Vista Bridge (Winona Bridge): Installation of falsework on southbound side. Work on lower part of bridge structure (forming soffit and stems) for southbound I-5 widening.

Buena Vista Railroad Bridge: Forming of abutment footings and abutments (supporting structures at the ends of the bridge span).

Buena Vista Ramps:  Paving operation between the ramps.

Burbank Western Channel: Backfilling trench operations.

Empire Avenue: Pouring and forming footings for underpass and abutment walls. Retaining wall work.

Railroad Retaining Wall: Installation of precast wall panels between Hollywood Way and Burbank Boulevard.

Victory Place: Forming of abutments for the bridge and walls.

Old San Fernando Road Tunnel: Concrete crushing.


CLOSURES for Dec. 28-31, 2015

SR-134 to Magnolia Boulevard

+ Intermittent closures of the northbound I-5 Alameda Avenue off- and on-ramps from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

+ The Los Angeles River Bike Path between Riverside Drive and just south of the SR-134 overcrossing in the City of Los Angeles will be closed through spring 2016.  A signed detour is posted that directs bike path users to Zoo Drive and Western Heritage Way.  See map here.

Magnolia Boulevard to Buena Vista Street

Intermittent closure of the southbound I-5 Burbank Boulevard off-ramp for equipment loading (night work).
