Beginning Monday, August 20, the contractor plans to run one day crew and one night crew to pour concrete paving for the new lanes on I-5 from south of Norwalk Blvd. to Imperial Highway. This will not involve freeway lane closures.
Construction of the retaining walls along the Norwalk Blvd. on ramp to northbound I-5 continues.
Grading, laying of base for concrete and construction of curb and gutter continues along Imperial Highway at the I-5.
Northbound I-5 all lanes and corresponding ramps are scheduled to be CLOSED from Rosecrans Blvd. to I-605 from 11:59 p.m. Sunday, August 19 until 5 a.m. Monday, August 20. The closure will allow paving of the new lanes that we are adding to I-5.
Detour signs will direct traffic off northbound I-5 to westbound Rosecrans Blvd. to northbound I-605 back to northbound I-5. Alternate route: westbound State Route 91 (Artesia Freeway) to northbound I-605 to northbound I-5. Detour map below:
The Norwalk Blvd. off ramp from northbound I-5 is now CLOSED for reconstruction, possibly through late October. Use the new Rosecrans Blvd. off ramp from northbound I-5 as an alternate. Grading and compacting of the off ramp continues. Photos below from August 7 (Tap / click on photos for slide show and details):
For the next few weeks we will continue to pour concrete and pave new lanes for I-5 between the Norwalk Blvd. off ramp and the Imperial Highway off ramp. Photos below from August 7:
As crews work on Imperial Highway, Norwalk Boulevard and Pioneer Boulevard bridges at I-5, one lane in each direction may be closed on each street (at I-5) during the daytime, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
