September and October 2015
Construction and closure schedules are subject to change.
WHAT’S HAPPENING: Crews will be driving concrete piles to construct a new railroad bridge over Buena Vista Street.
WHERE AND WHEN: The work will take place near the intersection of Buena Vista Street and San Fernando Boulevard. Signed detours will be provided. The I-5 on- and off-ramps will remain OPEN. During work hours, Buena Vista Street northbound and southbound will be closed as follows:
- September 19 – October 4, 2015
– Northbound and southbound Buena Vista Street from Winona Avenue to San Fernando Boulevard will be fully closed on weekends from Saturday mornings at 6 a.m. to Sunday evenings at 8 p.m. - September 21 – October 16, 2015
– One lane of northbound Buena Vista Street from San Fernando Boulevard to Winona Avenue will be closed on weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Flaggers will direct motorists.
IMPACTS: You may notice noise and vibration during this operation, particularly if you live or work near the area. Noise and vibration will be monitored and measurements will be taken as needed.
SCHEDULE CHANGES: The work schedule is subject to change due to operational factors and inclement weather.
WHAT IS PILE DRIVING? Pile driving is a common method of constructing structure foundations. To support the structure,
steel or concrete beams or “piles” are driven into the soil until reaching a hard layer of earth beneath the structure foundation.
