This weekend there will be an extended 55-hour closure of Rosecrans Avenue at I-5. This closure is needed in order to reconstruct this section of the roadway to its final configuration and prepare to open the northbound I-5 on- and off-ramp at Rosecrans Avenue.
On Friday, Jan. 5 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., crews will close one lane in each direction on Rosecrans Avenue at I-5; one lane in each direction will remain open at all times. From 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5 until to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8 crews will close Rosecrans Avenue to all traffic in both directions underneath I-5. The southbound I-5 on- and off-ramp at Rosecrans Avenue will be closed during this time as well; motorists can use the Carmenita Road on- and off-ramp to southbound I-5 as an alternate. The closure area is shown on the map below in red; the detour route is shown in green.
At 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8 Rosecrans Avenue at I-5 will reopen to its final configuration and the northbound I-5 on- and off-ramps will open to traffic.
In addition, on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 10 crews will open Bloomfield Avenue to through traffic underneath I-5. This marks a major milestone toward completion of the project. While intermittent closures may be needed in the coming weeks, crews are on their way to completing the project soon.
