Rosecrans Ave & Bloomfield Ave Bridge Project – Week of May 31, 2015

The extended weekend closure of westbound Rosecrans Avenue, originally scheduled to take place this weekend (May 29-31), has been postponed until further notice.
Daytime demolition activity of the Firestone Boulevard undercrossing at the I-5 freeway is currently underway; this work will continue Monday, June 1 through Friday, June 5, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The week of June 7, crews will shift their operation and begin two to three weeks of nighttime demolition activity to remove the old Rosecrans Avenue bridge at the I-5 freeway. In order to minimize impacts to the traveling public and limit exposure of work crews to live traffic, demolition activity at Rosecrans Avenue must be conducted at nighttime and will require full closure of Rosecrans Avenue in both directions underneath the I-5 freeway. Additional information will be provided before this work takes place. Please be advised this work will be loud and disruptive due to bridge demolition, equipment noise and construction activity.

On Friday, June 12 the contractor will conduct test pile driving activity along the I-5 freeway at Bloomfield Avenue and Rosecrans Avenue. Following the test activity, pile driving operations will begin the week of June 15. This work will be ongoing for approximately eight to 10 weeks and will be conducted weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Please be advised this work may be loud and disruptive due to equipment noise, vibration and pounding related to pile driving activity.
