ROSECRANS AVENUE & BLOOMFIELD AVENUE BRIDGE PROJECT – Week of June 14, 2015

Friday, June 12, the contractor will conduct test pile driving activity along the I-5 freeway at Bloomfield Avenue and Rosecrans Avenue. Following the test activity, pile driving operations will begin the week of June 15. This work will be
ongoing for approximately eight to 10 weeks and will be conducted weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Please be advised this work may be loud and disruptive due to equipment noise, vibration and pounding related to pile driving
activity.

An extended weekend closure of westbound Rosecrans Avenue, is scheduled to begin Friday night, June 12 through Sunday, June 14. Westbound Rosecrans Avenue will be closed to through traffic underneath the I-5 freeway, from 9 p.m. Friday, June 12 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 14, so crews can complete work to reconstruct portions of the roadway prior to opening the new Rosecrans Avenue on and off-ramps, which will occur at the end of the month.

DETOUR: Motorists traveling west on Rosecrans Avenue will be detoured to turn left on Carmenita Road, turn right Alondra Boulevard, then right on Bloomfield Avenue to access Rosecrans Avenue. The detour route is highlighted on the map above.

On Monday night, June 15 crews will begin two to three weeks of nighttime demolition activity to remove the old Rosecrans Avenue bridge at the I-5 freeway. Bridge demolition activity will require full closures of Rosecrans Avenue
in both directions under the I-5 freeway, weeknights between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. This work will be conducted at night in order to minimize impacts to the traveling public and limit exposure of work crews to live traffic. Please be advised this
work will be loud and disruptive due to bridge demolition, equipment noise and construction activity.
The map below highlights the work area (in red) where demolition activity is being conducted; local access will be maintained for residents and businesses off Bloomfield Avenue and Firestone Boulevard. However there will be no access to Rosecrans Avenue underneath the I-5 freeway. In addition, the Rosecrans Avenue on and off-ramps to I-5 freeway will also be closed while this work is completed. Motorists will be directed to follow the detour routes highlighted below in green, to bypass the closure area.
