*Postponed*: The overnight closure of Valley View Ave. from Alondra Blvd. to Arbor Place. Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for SCE work is postponed until the last week of January.

Bridge work was suspended for most of this past week due to rain.

Workers are constructing the falsework (temporary frame support) and placing steel girders for the next (middle) section of the first half of the new Valley View Ave. Bridge just west of I-5 in Santa Fe Springs. Photos below from January 8 and January 15:

A detour to S. Firestone Blvd. west of I-5 opened at 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14.  The detour is between Marquardt Ave. and the new Valley View Ave. Bridge in Santa Fe Springs. This will provide a safe work space for us to demolish an old retaining wall and build a new one. Photos below from January 2:

Construction of retaining walls for the new southbound Firestone Blvd. where it will connect to Valley View Ave. in La Mirada is complete. The walls have been back-filled with earth to elevate the roadway surface to meet the new bridge. Photos below from December 18, January 2 and January 15:

At the Coyote Creek Bridge in La Mirada, workers continue constructing the concrete abutment walls above Coyote Creek and foot bridges to place across the creek in advance of placing steel beams. Photos below from January 8 and January 15:

Construction of the pier walls that will support the new bridge over Coyote Creek, east of I-5 near Trojan Way in La Mirada, is complete. The bridge will carry the new lanes of I-5 and N. Firestone Blvd.  Rain water is flowing freely between the walls when it rains. Photos below:

The final layer of concrete has been poured on the surface of the Valley View Ave. Bridge over Arbor Place and west of I-5 in Cerritos and the falsework has been removed from the sides.  Photos below:
