Valley View Ave. Interchange Project – June 21- June 28, 2019

Construction on this project is 43% complete.

Projected dates:
Completion of first half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Revised to *late 2019.
Completion of second half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Revised to *late 2021.
Firestone Blvd. reverts to two lanes in each direction at Valley View Ave.: End of 2021. 
I-5 Valley View Ave. Interchange projected date of completion: Revised to *End of 2021.

Closures CANCELLED for the nights of Wednesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 27:
Southbound Valley View Ave. from Alondra Blvd. to Artesia Blvd. 
Northbound Valley View Ave. from Arbor Place to Alondra Blvd. 
N. Firestone Blvd. from Gateway Dr. to Valley View Ave.  

*Update: 
The following overnight closures are scheduled to pave new freeway lanes:

From 11:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27 until 5 a.m. Friday, June 28:
Westbound 91 (Artesia Freeway) connector to northbound I-5 closed.

From 11:59 p.m. Thursday, June 27 until 5 a.m. Friday, June 28:
I-5 all northbound mainline lanes and corresponding on and off ramps closed from Aresia Blvd. to Valley View Ave.

Detour signs will direct traffic off northbound I-5 onto westbound Artesia Blvd. to northbound Carmenita Rd. to rejoin northbound I-5 at the Carmenita Rd. on ramp.

Alternate route: westbound State Route 91 (Artesia Freeway) to northbound I-605 (San Gabreil River Freeway) to northbound I-5.

Concrete has been poured over the “soffit” (deck underside) and inside the rebar frames of the stem walls on the Valley View Ave. Bridge. Workers are now building frames and laying the same forms horizontally as a base to place another layer of rebar. Photos below from June 5, June 11, and June 18:

On the future Firestone Blvd. ramp to the Valley View Ave. Bridge, workers installed rebar on the “soffit” (underside of the deck) and the stem walls. Then they secured lumber forms to the stem walls in preparation for a concrete pour that occurred the night of Tuesday, June 18. Workers are now building the “falsework” (temporary frame support structure) for the future Valley View Ave. off ramp from soutbound I-5 that will connect the ramp an support columns to the deck of the bridge. Photos below from June 11 and June 18:

In La Mirada, the contractor is constructing new lanes of northbound I-5 between Knott Ave. and north of Trojan Way near the new Coyote Creek Bridge. The first layer of concrete (lean concrete base) is complete and the final layer of concrete will be poured the week of  June 24. Photos below from June 5 and June 18:
